Long Time, No See

Hey everyone, Dan here. It has been a long time since we updated this page. Ever since I went up to the University of Oklahoma and my dad started working at Capstone Metering, progress on the RV has become pretty intermittent. Currently we have finished up the empennage and wings, and have put the fuselage up on to rotisserie-style engine mounts to work on that. Fastening the ribs inside the wings proved slightly tricky at some places, and cutting the skins to fit in the landing lights was a pretty terrifying day in the shop. All in all though, the wings look good.

In order to make room for the fuselage we had to knock out our wooden I-beams in the shop. Once we did that, I got a crash course in welding and we put together a brace for the fuselage. This has given us a nice full 360 degree rotating option for working on the body, which should be extremely helpful in our upcoming work.

Over the next few weeks I’ll be working on getting/posting pictures of our progress and updating the charts and diagrams on the site. Hope everyone is enjoying getting out of this nasty winter, and back to beautiful blue skies and VFR flying.
